Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) is one of the disciplines of gymnastics. WAG is made up of 4 events;

- Uneven Bars
- Balance Beam
- Floor
Grande Prairie Gymnastics has 3 different programs in our WAG program, our athletes are placed on one of the following teams.
- Competitive Xcel
- Zero Gravity
- Developmental
- Balance Brigade
- Flip Force
- Flippers & Flyers
- Hi-Flyers
- Jumping Beans
- Sick It Squad
- Tiny Twisters
- Advanced Rec
- Tumble Bugs
- Cartwheel Crew
Program requirements are set by Alberta Gymnastics Federation and are set up in such a way to help athletes successfully progress through each level.
Xcel Program
The Xcel Program is an optional program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The goal of the Xcel program is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience.
Athletes in Bronze & Silver may not compete outside of our annual in house fun meet. Athletes in Gold, Platinum & Diamond may be given the opportunity to compete throughout Alberta and Canada. It is up to the Grande Prairie Gymnastics coaching staff to determine which athletes will be attending competitions each year.
Athletes in this program will train 8 to 16 hours per week. This program runs for 12 months.
Developmental Program
The Women’s Development Program was created to provide athletes with a strong foundation of basic skills in order to safely advance to a higher level.
Athletes in this program may be given the opportunity to attend competitions throughout Alberta and other parts of Canada. It is up to the Grande Prairie Gymnastics coaching staff to determine which athletes will be attending competitions each year.
Athletes in this program will train for 4 to 9 hours per week. This program runs for 10 months with optional summer training.
Athletes must tryout for all WAG teams in the spring.
